a new beginning: a high tea adventure

One sunny, albeit chilly day, we went on an adventure (the drive took us more than 30 minutes, so it is an adventure alright!) to a land unknown to us HAHAHAHAHA (actually, just to George's Heights in Mosman) :P

I gave directions, cos baby didn't know where we were going! =) (took me 2 weeks to finally get a booking cos they are always closed for private functions!!!)

Oh before that, had to make a pit stop so that I could go buy myself a jacket hahaha, damn lame I know :P

Anyway, before I get distracted..
So we left Top Ryde and started the journey to Mosman and we reached wayyyy too early =.='''
But luckily there was a lookout point and some history thingie (Gunner's Barracks used to be an army thingie? okay history epic fail here :P) so we managed to kill some time before our 3pm booking.

The silly boy only realised we were going to the Tea Room after he saw the map for the 2nd time double sweat! hahaha
But all's good.
We were showed to our table (an outdoor one yay!) and the view was AMAZINGGGG! =)

My very first afternoon tea, the traditional tiered platter way =)
And one really awesome thing I really loved about this place (apart from gorgeous views) was the very very extensive tea selection. So naturally I start mine off with the most interesting one (imo) on the menu, the blueberry muffin tea and baby had the irish cream tea. They both smelled soooo awesome! but the taste wasn't quite strong as is the case with all western teas hahaha. After the first pot, I ended up with Lady Grey (nothing beats this!) and he had Vanilla which was really yums too =) (endless supply of tea you can actually change the tea leaves when you finish a pot without incurring extra charges!!! how awesome is that?!)

So for this afternoon tea, we had a mix of savouries and sweets yay and everything was really really good!!! Food porn ahead! (just doing this post makes me want to eat even tho it's 1am -.-)

mini quiche, samosa and the most orgasmic scones i've ever had (original and dates)

cheesecake, pineapple mini muffin which was soo good and mango pudding zomg i am in food heaven!

the opera cake (sooo delish!!) and jaffa macaroons which were so good i'd rate them better than most i have had before

and the plate of sandwiches (egg and smoked salmon) and roast beef on something (fail as food blogger much? haha)

The food was so so good! my absolute fav was definitely the scone!! So fluffy and so fresh and so so good! Though I really liked the opera cake (had just enough coffee and nuts in it *mmmmm*) and macaroons as well! The macaroons were chewy but once inside your mouth they slowly melt (which imho, is the essence of a good macaroon!!). Baby liked his savouries of cos hahaha especially the roast beef one and he loveeed the pineapple muffin which was tangy and moist and definitely not lacking in flavour at all!
We both loveeed the mango pudding as well, just the right amount of sweetness and an excellent way to finish off afternoon tea. The least impressive of the lot must have been the cheesecake but even then, it wasn;t bad at all.

And the best part about the Tea Room at Gunner's Barracks is the most amazing view ever. Though it got really chilly towards the late afternoon (stupid strong winds), but thank god for their heaters!
